After 100 Years – It’s STILL About the Vote

The Women’s Suffrage Centennial Picnic will take place on Sunday, July 23, from noon to 4pm, on the grounds of The Perkins Mansion, 494 East Avenue, Rochester, with 1917 era picnic lunch featuring southern fried chicken, salads and sweet potato pie. Activities will include conversations with historical figures such as Susan B. Anthony, Harriet Tubman, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Matilda Joslyn Gage, Ida B. Wells and Frederick Douglass in period dress. Historic Tour and 1917 Suffrage Memorabelia on display along with the Rochester Women’s History Dress, and a chance to Ring the Rochester Rememberance Bell and cast your vote in the ballot box for wishes or committment for the future. Picnic lunch $10, $5 children, Tour $5. This program was funded in part by a Humanities New York Action Grant.
