NY Votes for Women: A Suffrage Centennial Anthology Reading in Seneca Falls
November 19 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm| Free
What was it like for courageous women in New York State to fight for the vote? What parts of our heritage – history and herstory – have we never heard before? And, one hundred years later, what other issues of equality are renewing the pull that many feel to speak out?
In NY Votes for Women: A Suffrage Centennial Anthology, twenty-two women explore these questions in a variety of engaging memoirs, stories and poems.
Though the Centennial is historic, the project and the event is also a response to modern times. In the fall of 2016, Stacey Murphy and other local writers came to feel an urgency in the project in response to the unease they and other women were feeling with the events leading up to the November 2016 election, the election itself, and disturbing implications for women as our American history continues to unfold.
Join us at the Women’s Rights National Historical Park on Sunday November 19th at 1:30 pm and hear readings from several contributors, including:
