Join “Standing Down: From Warrior to Civilian” Reading & Discussion Group
A new reading and discussion program is coming soon for students, faculty/staff, and community members. Veterans, family members, and others are welcome to join the conversation reflecting on military service as well as the challenges and opportunities of transitioning from active duty to civilian life. All will be provided a copy of Standing Down: From Warrior to Civilian- a new anthology including selections from Homer’s Iliad to personal accounts of those who have served in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
Dr. Gerry Ianovici and Army Veteran/SUNY Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus Joseph Flynn will facilitate this interactive program meeting Wednesdays, 3-4:30 p.m., on 2/22, 3/1, 3/8, 3/22, and 3/29. Books (and snacks!) will be provided along with great learning and conversation.
This program is undertaken in partnership with Humanities NY and co-sponsored by the Center for Civic Engagement, Department of English & Humanities, and Hinkle Library.
Participation is limited to 15 people, so sign up soon by emailing email@example.com.
