The Jewish Ghetto in Postcards from Eastern Europe to the Lower East Side

Exhibition presenting rarely seen images of shtetls in Europe that were wiped out during the Holocaust, and the “Ghetto” of the old Jewish Lower East Side. These vintage postcards provide snapshots of vanished places that are the heart of the 20th century Jewish experience. This exhibition is presented in partnership with the Blavatnik Archive and will travel to the Yiddish Book Center in Massachusetts following its showing at the Museum at Eldridge Street. Auxiliary events include lecture with Dr. Annie Polland (Sunday, February 5, 2017 at 2pm), concert of tenement songs – popular music of the Jewish Immigrants (Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 3 pm) and K-12 educational programs.
