Erie Canal Sal
July 28 @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm| $1.50 – $17
On July 28th, in conjunction with Sonnenberg Garden’s Family Fun Day, Gretchen Sepik, will deliver two consecutive performances of her “Erie Canal Sal” program. This interactive, one-hour program is designed for families and adults, and specifically suitable for grades 4-8. In this one-woman performance, Sepik takes on the role of “Erie Canal Sal,” a fictitious character based, in part, on Old Black Nell who was a cook on the canal in the year 1840. She speaks in an Irish brogue and weaves Irish Folk Tales into facts about the Erie Canal. This humorous performance teaches participants about the engineering wonders of the world. This program will also offer participants a chance to better understand the significance of this structure both within our region and outside our region, as well as how its presence impacts our region’s relations with the rest of the country.
