New Lots Brooklyn Public Library Slavery Memorial

Exhibition of a memorial proposal to be presented to the designers of the New Lots Brooklyn Public Library, which is partially sited on an historic African burial ground. The project was created by Empowering Youth Towards Excellence participants who completed a seven-week course in which they learned about the history of slavery in Brooklyn and broader Long Island. The proposal will be exhibited in a Brownsville Heritage House display case.
