James Baldwin’s America, a Reading & Discussion program at Woodstock Public Library

June 15, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

This series is designed for Woodstock adult readers who are interested in race relations as they’ve shaped American history and continue to impact our present. James Baldwin’s writings provide a nuanced literary viewpoint into this immediately relevant topic, and we anticipate that the discussion will draw parallels between Baldwin’s experiences and concerns and the effects of the ongoing prejudices against Black Americans that still predominate in our culture. The goal of this series is to prompt insightful and frank conversation in our community about racism in America and ways to work against it.
