Through James Baldwin’s work, we are seeking to create a learning community that will widen and deepen our understanding of others – be those others within our own communities, or parts of the wider community of humanity. As our facilitator from the Adirondack Diversity Initiative, David has said, “it is only through dialogue that we can learn of each other’s inner worlds and ways of knowing and being, and only through this process can those who are oppressed learn to reflect on the conditions that have created that oppression, and then work to create new just realities.” This Reading and Discussion group will be used as a jumping off point for additional groups and community dialogue.
