A look at local resident Prince Taylor, a free man of color residing in Ticonderoga after the American Revolution. Prince Taylor was a black revolutionary war veteran. In May 1791, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison visited Taylor’s farm in Ticonderoga, where Madison reported that they met a Black man employing white indentured servants to work his farm on the northeast shore of the lake.
