SI Mode: Exploring Fashion & Identity Workshops
August 30 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pmFree
Fashion curators Jenna Rossi-Camus and Alexis Romano, in partnership with the Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art, run four participatory, two-day workshops exploring the themes of Staten Island fashion and identity. These are in preparation for a 2023 exhibition, which participants will have the opportunity to contribute to via a call for participants of all ages and backgrounds to take part in one, several, or all four workshops! In these programs you are invited to reflect on and discuss your experiences of fashion as a Staten Islander as we explore objects, images, and exhibition storytelling as a group. There will be writing and drawing components depending on the workshop, as well as the option of being photographed and filmed. Some workshops involve bringing in your own photographs and clothing; all are capped at 15 participants. Refreshments and other materials will be provided!
Dates: Workshop A on August 21, 10am-1pm, and August 23, 6-9pm; Workshop B on August 21, 2-5pm, and August 25, 6-9pm; Workshop C on August 27, 10am-1pm, and August 30, 6-9pm; Workshop D on August 27, 2-5pm and September 1, 6-9pm.
