October 7 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
An event every week that begins at 6:30 pm on Thursday, repeating until October 28, 2021
Herstory Writers Workshop and the Humanities Institute at Stony Brook University are excited to use bring back our very popular ‘Stories for Liberation” workshop series, to join forces with our current online writing circle for environmental justice, climate action and hope, as we provide a wider umbrella for stories of that will give a new shape to the healing of our communities, spirits, and land.
We invite you to join climate and human rights activists across the generations, young people writing for their futures, community stake holders and neighborhood elders, young Dreamers and Head Start parents, teachers and health care providers, in a shared writing journey to pave a new way.
For our Community Members: Come once or twice, to tell a particular story that needs to be told. Or continue week after week to shape stories for readings, web publications and pop-up events that we are planning in front of farmer’s markets, in community gardens, in front of food stores, at garbage dumps, and on our beaches and public parks. Participate in outdoor workshops in Wyandanch, Long Beach, and Brentwood where young people will be writing side by side with legislators, climate activists and more.
For our Students: Herstory will work with you and your school to help you develop and individual work plan to take these workshops for credit, as an internship, community service, or for volunteer experience. For more information, please email [email protected]
