Then, Now, Next: What Does The Future of Museums Look Like?
September 23, 2020 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm
$10
2020 GHHN Virtual Conference & Awards for Excellence
Meeting weekly on Wednesdays, 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM
September 23 – October 28, 2020
$10/weekly session (Student price: $6/weekly session)
2020 has been an extraordinary year: COVID-19, economic recession, BLM. How are museums responding to these timely issues? How do museums’ actions today shape the future? What can we learn from looking back as we move forward in a new way?
Join GHHN and guest presenters as we explore these timely questions. Our Annual Conference has been re-imagined as a virtual model, broken up into weekly sessions of 3 hours of content presented over a six-week period. Attendees have the freedom to participate in all the weekly sessions or just log in to a selection.
Here’s how it works:
The first session begins on Wednesday, September 23 and meets every Wednesday at the same time (9:30 AM – 12:30 PM) each week for 6 weeks.
Participants can access the weekly sessions for the nominal fee of just $10. Each session is registered for separately.
Each weekly session consists of 3 distinct time blocks of activity, with 10 minute breaks between.
Within the weekly sessions, participants can choose if they’d like to tune in 1, or 2, or to all 3 of that week’s activity blocks.
All sessions will be recorded and available to registered participants.
WEEKLY SCHEDULE FOR WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23
9:30 AM CONFERENCE KICKOFF AND WELCOME
9:40 AM FUNDERS’ PANEL
Featuring representatives from Arts Westchester, Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area/Hudson River
Valley Greenway, Humanities NY, New York State Archives, Orange County Arts Council, and the Preservation League of New York State
Moderated by GHHN, the Funder’s Panel is a discussion with representatives from a variety of funding organizations to discuss current trends. The Funders will share new initiatives they are exploring, how COVID-19 has impacted their funding priorities, and what the Funders think the future holds for history and heritage organizations.
10:30 AM DEEP DIVES WITH THE FUNDERS
Each Funder will break out into individual sessions to provide an overview of their program’s funding, ‘dive deeper’ into an open discussion, and conduct a Q&A session with participants in the room. Each of the Deep Dives with the Funders will happen simultaneously providing attendees an opportunity to hop in to different sessions to join multiple conversations.
