Uncovering and Recovering Race in America, a Reading & Discussion program at Troy Public Library

This reading and discussion series will be an extension of our current grant which explores the inception, inculcation, and function of race in American society. We have discussed this topic in order to improve our understanding of systematic, and social, inclusion and exclusion in American systems. Our goal is to tease out the implicit ways race serves as a real, and imagined, force in the lives of all Americans. This group will continue to explore racial dynamics in America, this time centering on the intersectional forces imbedded in systematic racism to better understand the racial disparities in economics, health care and mass incarceration in America today.

This program is designed for community members ages 16+
Troy is a diverse community and the goal of this project is to attract people from all different ages, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds in order to facilitate change in our community.
