Humanities New York (HNY) is honored to provide HNY CARES Emergency Relief Grants to humanities organizations facing financial hardship as a result of the pandemic. Funding for this grant is provided by the CARES Act and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
Emergency Relief Grants up to $20,000 are available to nonprofit cultural organizations that are based in and serve New York State. The maximum award amount will be determined by an organization’s total operating expenses as documented in its most recent 990.
HNY is committed to equitable grantmaking and takes into consideration each applicant's geographic location and ability to reach diverse communities. Support will be prioritized to organizations with a core humanities mission.
Funding for these grants has been provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act economic stabilization plan.
This new grant opportunity complements the NEH CARES act funding opportunity, which offers relief grants of up to $300,000 to many larger organizations across the country and in New York.
Please take a moment to write your Member of Congress thanking them for CARES act funding and urging them to include more in further relief packages.
