Busra Sati Doga is a PhD candidate in the Sociology department at SUNY Binghamton where she focuses on sociology of food, global labor studies and migration. Her Public Humanities project, titled “Immigrant Narratives from Past to Present: Writing Binghamton’s Food History,” aims to explore the ethnic diversity of the larger Binghamton area and make immigrants visible through the prism of food. Based on interviews with immigrants and their descendants from Binghamton, she will narrate the family and immigration histories of the participants as a recipe-centered piece and publish this on a website that I will create.
